If you are a Muslim woman or know of a sister who has experienced Islamophobia or any form of violence or harm, please reach out to us. Sisters Dialogue will send out a community care package because being seen is important to one's healing.
Sisters Dialogue hold regular healing circles for different groups of Muslim women as part of our approach to community care. There are not many spaces which are safe for Muslim women. and we believe in creating curated spaces where Muslim women can be their authentic selves, to learn, grow, heal and resonate with one another. We include modalities like playback theatre and art therapy, to explore new ways of healing. Our circles are facilitated by professional therapists who are culturally-safe.
Sisters Dialogue collaborated with Shift Lab Edmonton and the Somali Canadian Education and Rural Development Organization to include a Black Muslim woman scenario for Edmonton Shift Lab's Guide to Bystander Intervention resource.

We should all feel safe to walk in our beautiful city. The Edmonton SafeWalk initiative (in collaboration with the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues), aimed at building relationships and community connections- while walking! Ongoing Islamophobic incidences in Edmonton have many women feeling unsafe walking to and from transit, jobs, and even around their neighbourhood. For this pilot, we focused on supporting Black, racialized, and visibly Muslim women, though all were welcomed to access the service.
For the summer 2022 pilot, walks were limited to communities in Northeast Edmonton and volunteers received training in anti-oppression and allyship in a community context.
The Safewalk Pilot program has ended. We hope to expand the program in the future and would love to hear from you.
We acknowledge that our programs are possible with funding from the Province of Alberta and the City of Edmonton.
